    Hi,

My gf of 8 months broke up with me just under 3 weeks ago, and even though I’ve had some good days, I cannot get her off of my mind. We go to the same small college, I have classes and clubs with her, and we share the same friend circle. She is in a co-ed service fraternity, so she has been busy with that and also with her club commitments. I have tried to keep myself busy, but I find my thoughts of her distract me even more from my busy schedule. My friends tell me she feels she is too busy for a relationship, and although she told me I deserved better than what she could give me, I also know a few things I did wrong during the relationship, and I feel she decided to end it based on a mix of how busy she is and how I acted towards the end of our relationship (said some things I regret). She was extremely busy this semester especially, so I do believe there is a hint of truth in the fact she could be too busy. I talked to her 2 weeks after the breakup, to tell her I still loved her and that I did not expect her to change her mind, but she told me she still needed her space and that I should not wait for her. Even my most optimistic friend is now telling me to move on, after talking to her himself. She has not blocked me on anything and still has pictures of us on instagram. I know this could mean nothing. Sometimes she will awkwardly smile at me in public, but lately she has just been ignoring me. I’ve been told she feels bad for hurting me. She feels I was/am being too pushy with trying to keep her/get her back. I have not contacted her in a week, and have stopped liking her social media posts or reacting to them. It is hard to tell whether she is happier without me. I was her first bf, and she my first true gf (dated someone for a month when I knew my current ex). Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Adam

    hi Adam,

if she didn’t block you nor did she deleted your photos on instagram, this may be a good sign. She might be happier, sadder or less sad without you, you cannot know it. I would say she is relieved for the time being, which is not necessarily a permanent state.

I would suggest that you give her some space and ask your common friend to not ask her about your relationship or feelings or whatever related to the two of you.

After a couple of weeks you may ask her how she’s been doing and see what happens next
