I’ll try and keep this as short as I can. Me and my ex had an amazing relationship in the beginning, I loved him by the end of our first date, we both agreed that we felt we were each other’s soulmates. We hit a bad patch and things quickly went south. We spent six months trying to figure out what was best, to stay together or to end it. It was a horrible painful time and when things got to a point when we were happy again and spending all our time together like we were in the beginning, I was over the moon. I hit some medical problems which affected my moods badly, making me paranoid and depressed. This took a massive strain on my relationship and forced it to come to an end again. I have made mistakes and I accept that my relationship ended and could not be healed partly down to my mistakes. I am at the point now where I miss my ex horribly and want him back and want the relationship that I loved back and to stay that way more than anything.
I downloaded the relationship rewind and I have drafted out a magic letter, as at this point in time my ex appears to want no contact with me what so ever.
The only problem I have with this letter is the part when it mentions being friends. I know you can personalise this letter so it suits your relationship, but with my situation my ex has never said that he wants to be friends. I fact in the last communication between me and him, he said he ‘couldn’t be arsed with it all and had had enough’. So my question is how to personalise the friends section of the letter, or what to put in that place instead?
Any help would be much appreciated as I am feeling positive about the situation and what I’m trying to do (not just get my ex back but to fix the broken parts of our relationship) but this is the only part I am struggling on!

    Hey Laura,

The letter in relationship rewind is helpful only if you are already friends with your ex. So don’t use that letter. Instead, do no contact for a while. And then use the message mentioned in the death’s door section of relationship rewind.

Hi Kevin, thank you for your reply. I did no contact and my ex reached out to me asking to be friends. Which worked out well as after a few days I sent him the letter I had drafted. As soon as he read the letter he text me to say that he was happy that I had ‘let go’. Which stunned me a bit as this wasn’t quite the reaction I was expecting! Since then, as I got a bit upset about his reaction I stepped back and have made no contact with him. My problem now is how to initiate a false friendship with him (as he has expressed that he wanted to remain friends). We work at the same place, and I am leaving in 2 weeks so after that I will not have a reason to see him. So I was considering texting him in a few days saying something along the lines of – I have had some time to evaluate things and I would appreciate it if we could spend the rest of my days at work civilly and if we could be friends, as he has been an important part of my life for a long time and the friendship aspect is something I don’t want to lose. This is the best way that I can think of to initiate a false friendship after the letter etc.
Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated!
