Hi Kevin! I would like your thoughts on my situation. I was dating a guy for 2 years. He was living in DC and I was in Baltimore. We shared a lot of good times together and really opened up to each other. He was my first real love! Towards the end of this 2 year relationship I could feel him become distant, even though he loved me, he wanted to break up. The reasons he told me were because things were getting too serious between us, he was young (27) and wanted time to explore other things before he settled down for good. Of course I was devastated and took awhile for me to get over the depression period. But I did Thanks to my awesome and supportive friends and family!!

We had still kept in contact and of course (being a girl) went through the needy stage; texting and calling him all the time to tell him how much I wanted to get back together and that I needed him in my life. I tried to be strong and would go through periods of not contacting him and then I would break and go right back to doing the same neediness things. During this time I learned he had started to “date” another girl. He told me many times, it wasn’t serious and he was just having fun, experiencing new things and that I should be doing the same. I was obviously hurt and devastated that he had already been hooking up with other girls. So I tried to do the same thing. But the guys I was meeting didn’t compare to the love I had for my ex.

After a little while, we started slowly hanging out again. We would go through periods of hanging out every weekend, to not seeing each other for a few months. Every time things were going really good between us, he would pull away. We were in this back and forth phase for over a year. Finally in the summer of 2013, as much as I loved him and wanted so badly to be with him forever, I couldn’t do it anymore. All my friends were getting married and starting to have babies and I was stuck in this back and forth relationship with him wondering if and when this would happen for me. So I kind of gave him an ultimatum. Either we are back together in a committed relationship or we need to move on for good. No more back and forth between us because it wasn’t healthy for earthier one of us. Again he told me he loved me but was still not ready to be in a serious relationship at this point in his life and told me I was putting pressure on him to think about marriage. So we decided not to hangout anymore end all communication for a while to help us move on.

Again I was extremely upset to hear this from him! What was I doing wrong? Why couldn’t he just commit to me? Are we really done for good? All these thoughts played in my mind. After a few months, I had heard through mutual friends and saw on social media he was dating someone new. Since then he has completely ignored me and has blocked me from all social media. I don’t understand why? How can he be in a new relationship with someone just months after telling me he didn’t want to be in a serious relationship. I can’t get him out of my mind and strongly believe we are meant to be together.

HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTING MY EX BACK after all this time?? Over the past year while he has been dating this other girl, I have tried reaching out to him via text or phone call. But he continues to ignore me. I admit some of those text/calls were when I was drunk, upset, and angry and may have said things that weren’t nice. But for the most part they were brief messages like; just wanted to say Hi and see how you’re doing or a message about a restaurant we loved going to that closed. How can I get him to respond to me and start communication again? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Thank you for taking the time to read this. I tried to make it brief…

If you two felt something special for each other then there is a way to get back to those feelings. Read relationship rewind. It should help you.
