How long to apply NC

Hi Kevin,

I´m writing becasue I am not too sure how long to do no contact rule for. I broke up with my ex in July, but we were still in contact and when I asked to get back together he rejected me completely and asked to stop talking for a while in the beginning of October. I only just found this website and have not applied NC so far, I have talked to my ex like once every two weeks since it happened, but not in a desperate manner.

From what I read on your site, he is showing all signs of still loving me but being hurt and angry and defying all logic that if we got back together it would really be a great thing.

I started NC rule today, and his birthday is one month away. Should I try contacting him then? and how? Also, some people advice me to just not contact him at all, for however it takes until he contacts me. what do you think?
