Hi there. My ex and I had a wonderful relationship that was based on mutual respect. We did not fight, but then again we were only together for 3 months. Shortly After we started dating, my ex learned that he would be moving from Michigan to North Carolina for work. To make things even more difficult, about half way into the relationship, I learned that he plans to get arranged marriage, which allows his parents to choose a specific mate from their Indian culture. I never meant to fall for him because I knew all of this. But we both acknowledge that we just fit like a glove. I decided to throw caution to the wind and give my all in the relationship. My thinking was that I would just enjoy him while I have him and then I’ll let him go. But when it came time to let him go, it was a lot more difficult to do than I thought. When he moved, we agreed to be friends. I know that he cares for me and at first he was contacting me daily, after he moved. But then it was suddenly less. I felt like he was pulling away. Rather than let him know how panicked i was, i turned to the internet for advice. My fear is that I’m being rude and should have at least told him that i need space and that i need him to not contact me until i contact him. I don’t Even know if this rule is right for my situation. I care about him so much. I would feel like the most blessed woman alive to have him in my life. I haven’t told him these things directly Because I always knew it was supposed to be temporary. I’m 4 days into no contact and he has called me 4 times, called my friend, and texted me several times. He has no idea whats going on or why. Am i doing this wrong? Is he too much in the dark about everything?

it looks like you’ll have to go NC just for yourself and not for him to miss you. Take this time to heal yourself and make the best decisions. You can tell him that you must do it for yourself and if he likes you he will respect your decision. You may also tell him that you will contact him once you feel better and that he doesn’t need to worry about you, because if you need to ask our tell him anything you will do it.

Yes, of course you would need to break NC so as to explain the reasons and start it from scratch
