After no contact, should I ask my ex out to a casual dinner on her birthday?

Hello all,

I have a primary thread created called “Looking for Advice” for a more detailed situation. However, that thread is a bit long and quite involved. I’ll try to bring you up to speed. I am thinking about asking my ex out to dinner on her birthday for a casual meetup. Wondering if that’s a good idea or a bad idea.

I did the no contact for 30 days, have been gradually working my way back into talking to her. We met for coffee a few weeks ago, it went really well. The problem is she’s been a bit distant from me after meeting for coffee. Not sure why because I think it went well. I think there are many reasons this could be the case.

She told me a week or so ago that she isn’t ready to be friends with me yet, but didn’t really tell me why.

She also told me she wasn’t sure when she’d be able to meet in person again.

With this in mind do you think it’s a bad idea to ask her? I want to try to do something special. I’m thinking about maybe even asking her to bring a few friends and bring them. That might make things more casual.

Any advice is welcome. I’d prefer it ASAP as her birthday is in 2 days!
